Introduction

Technology Research and Calibration Laboratories Trading as, “TRAC Laboratories”, comprises three prime hi-tech electrical measurement and calibration laboratories, each dedicated to achieving high accuracy calibrations and measurements.

Namely:

  • Electrical AC/DC (Low Frequency)
  • Time and Frequency (High Frequency)
  • High Voltage / Heavy Current.

This calibration service has a strong foundation with over 35 years expertise in the research, measurement and calibration fields.  Experienced and certified electrical metrologists, provide a high quality, cost effective consulting and calibration support to SA Industries, aeronautical and electrical engineering bodies, technikons and universities within South Africa.

Extensive calibration services are also extended to the African continent, particularly with neighboring countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana.

Laboratories are accredited by the South African National Accreditation Service (SANAS) , meeting the stringent accreditation levels of ISO/IEC Guide 17025 - 2005.  This prestigious accreditation provides TRAC Laboratories with international acceptance and mutual recognition throughout the International Community.

The Prodigy in progress

The laboratories were established in 1980 providing a support service to Eskom, Eskom Research and SA Industry.

The AC/DC laboratory and Time and Frequency laboratory were the earliest established calibration laboratories in South Africa, under the then NCS (National Calibration Service ).  The registered numbers being NCS – 101 and 501 respectively.

In November 2001 the laboratories became Technology Research and Calibration Laboratories trading as TRAC Laboratories.

Situated in Alberton North, customers can enjoy easy access to and from the local freeways.  This reduces customer frustration in wasted travel time, due to traffic congestion experienced in other areas.

Calibration Period / Turn Around Time

SANAS accredited laboratories provide greater confidence in the calibrating laboratory’s technical capability and in the reliability of the technical data documented.

TRAC Laboratories being SANAS accredited to ISO 17025 standards, endorses its commitment to meeting high quality standards.  This places the Quality Control Manager at an advantage in ensuring his company maintains a “Cost effective,” quality system.

Short turn around periods ensure that the equipment taken out of service is calibrated swiftly and within the required outage period, reducing outage costs.  Benefits are obvious in that profit margins are considerably bettered.
